March, 2004
Dear Fellow Members,
Now that Spring is here, thoughts of winding down the
school year fill our minds. Looking
back over this year has been an uplifting experience.
I have felt “energized” (not by the battery-operated bunny) but
by all the accomplishments SWOSNA has achieved.
I hope that the momentum this organization has, will have been felt
by all.
I wish to thank the general membership for allowing
me to represent this organization. Serving
as President of SWOSNA has been a professional goal for me.
Through voluntary leadership I have contributed to my personal and
professional growth as an individual and as a school nurse.
I hope that each of you has found your membership beneficial in
some way. Under a general membership, one often does not have access to
details of behind the scenes operations.
Please know that we are always open to new ideas and smiling faces.
Should you ever want to increase your level of involvement please
see any Board member at any time.
I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the members
of the SWOSNA Board. You gave
your time coming to meetings, your effort in dealing with matters through
resolution, and your openness of attitude in “stepping out of the
box”. Many of you shared your talents in moving the organization
forward in a positive direction. Role
definitions and delineation of duties among Board members are clearer.
The SWOSNA Website, SWOSNA Storyboard, and magnet brochures are
products of the Public Relations Committee and have been wonderful
opportunities to promote the organization.
Increasing credibility among our peers and across other school
disciplines is crucial for our survival.
Relationship building will continue to be an ongoing challenge.
Hard work put forth by the Newsletter Committee yielded improved
communication and distribution for the general membership.
The Ways & Means Committee obtained new items for its members.
Alternative meeting formats have been planned to meet the needs of
the membership. Updating and
formulating a stronger and more applicable constitution that serves as our
foundation is almost complete. These
changes all took time and thoughtful consideration from both the Ad-Hoc
Committee and the Board members. Your
willingness to step out of your individual comfort zones is commendable. Thank you for working with me.
With you in the front seat, SWOSNA has great direction and knows no
bounds!!!
In closing, it has been my pleasure serving as
President of SWOSNA this past year. Next
year Lauren Brown will be providing her leadership to you in this role.
Continue to share your enthusiasm and dedication – they are
priceless gifts! I look
forward to working for you next year as Past President.
Remember that…
…Some grin and bear it…Others smile and change it.
I seem to be the latter!!!
